Bruce M. Cohn became Of Counsel to the firm in 2022. Mr. Cohn’s specialties include representing and providing counsel to physicians and all other health care providers with a particular interest in regulatory affairs, physician discipline, medical staff, and practice issues.
Mr. Cohn served as the Vice President and Senior Counsel of NYU Winthrop Hospital and directed the hospital’s litigation, risk management and insurance departments. He has also held positions at Westchester Medical Center, Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center and two litigation firms concentrating in defending medical providers against allegations of negligence and professional misconduct.
A certified EMS provider and teacher, Mr. Cohn has special expertise in legal concerns related to Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Medicine. He continues to provide instruction at the Nassau County EMS Academy helping to educate a new generation of technicians.
Mr. Cohn received his Juris Doctor degree from New York Law School and a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Public Communications at Boston University. He also holds a Master of Public Health from the New York Medical College, School of Public Health.
He is admitted to the Bars of New York and the District of Columbia, the US District Courts in the Southern & Eastern Districts of New York, and the United States Supreme Court.
In addition to his EMS teaching, Mr. Cohn has lectured to the Columbia University School of Nursing, the NYS Association of Fire Chiefs and numerous Physician, Nursing and Allied Health audiences and is currently the Vice-Chair of the Medical Legal Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association.
He is a co-author of Legal Aspects of Emergency Medical Services, W.B. Saunders Company, 1998.
